Time to Eradicate Scotch Broom
Scotch broom is beginning to bloom, and soon it will start forming seed pods. Once the seeds are dispersed, they can be viable in the soil for decades. Rip out those shrubs before they go to seed. Borrow SRN's Weed Wrenches to assist you. These simple tools make it pretty easy to uproot Scotch broom. Contact Sen (503-621-3331 or sensperoff [at] hotmail [dot] com to schedule borrowing them. Your neighbors with allergies will thank you, as does our native plants. For more information about Weed Wrenches, log onto http://www.weedwrench.com/weedwrench/, but you do not need to buy one when you can borrow two (medium and large sizes) from Skyline Ridge Neighbors!

Looking For Pioneer Heights Church
Hello,
My name is Jeanne Boschee. I am a great granddaughter of David Fischer who wrote the item posted on your website describing the beginning of the Pioneer Heights Church. (1997?) Grace Norris was my aunt. She was the second of my grandparents' (Ernest Waters and Mabel Fisher Waters) eleven children and my father is the sixth child. My father, David Waters, was named for his grandfather, David Alexander Fisher. He was born in July of 1928 when the family lived at Pioneer Heights. The letter is also included in a family history that my Aunt Grace wrote a few years ago along with much other family history. It also includes a story about my grandmother, Mabel Waters, and how she evacuated her six children, including my infant father, and their meager possessions to safety from a fire. I am not sure whether it was the forest in the fall of 1928 or another fire.
I am presently living in Spokane and have visited the Portland area many times during my life, but I have never been to see the area where the Pioneer Heights Church was started. There are five of Mabel's eleven children surviving and I would like to augment the information my aunt has given us before the last of her generation of our family is gone. I will be moving to the Portland area sometime this summer and one my goals is to visit your area. Can you tell me where the old church was? Are their any remains of it that are recognizable today? I am not member of the Adventist Faith but I would like very much to see the site and, if possible, meet people who are living in the area. It would be nice to meet other people who have roots in the community.
Please forward to me any information you may have the about the location of the old church. Please feel free to give my email address to any members of your group that would like to further explore the history of this area.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Boschee
