Request for Help, Feed the Searchers
If you would like to support the search and rescue effort for Kyron, you may do so by contributing prepackaged, backpack type food for the search teams to carry with them. Please no homemade. Protein bars, candy bars, cheese or meat/jerky, trail mixes, chips, drinks - food you would pack in a backpack. Again - no home made.
You can start bringing this food right away to Brooks Hill Historic Church residence entrance on Brooks Road. If no one comes to the door, it's ok to leave it outside the door. The residence entrance is off limits to the press.
A note about the press. There are a lot of them, they want to interview anyone and they can be intimidating - Its ok to say NO Thank you to an interview request.
Questions regarding this effort - or if you would like to get your name on a list of someone who can help with the distribution please contact Jan Campbell: tjcamfam1 [at] msn [dot] com
Day 6 1200 Excerpts from Noon Briefing Regarding Kyron Horman Search with Family Statement-
June 9, 2010
Noon Briefing
Capt. Jason Gates
Lt. Mike Shults, the liaison between the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the Horman family, read the following statement on behalf of the family:
Kyron’s family would like to thank everyone for their support and interest in finding their son. The outpouring of support and continued effort strengthens their hope. We need for folks to continue to assist us in our goal. Please search your properties, your cars your outbuildings, your sheds. Also check with your neighbors and friends who may be on vacation or may need assistance to search their property.
There are a lot of resources out there to help. Please don’t stop.
It is obviously a difficult time and they want to speak to the public so they can hear from Kyron’s family as they come together to share their message. Their objective is to keep the focus on Kyron and not about anything else.
Shults also said that the family chose not to be at the press conference because they wanted to keep the focus on Kyron and not on them.
In terms of the search, we can tell you that we have requested and are implementing the state-wide Search and Rescue plan. This involves calling up several hundred sheriff's office – affiliated teams from throughout Oregon. To date, we have had a great multi-jurisdictional response from surrounding counties in terms of everyone providing SAR teams. This is a natural progression of that… This plan is cutting edge in terms of how SAR teams operate and deploy. We are one of the first states in the country to develop and use such a plan, and we are very thankful for the resources they provide. We anticipate that these crews will be on the ground working by early tomorrow.
We will have more on this at our 4 pm briefing today.
The FBI's Mobile Command Post arrived just a short while ago. It is the process of being set up. It will provide additional space and resources for our large staff of investigators.. including work stations, Internet access and other such items.
