FOUND DOG:
Found on Skyline and Dixie Mountain Road. Black female, looks part Great Dane or Lab, friendly. Has blue heavy duty collar with little loops that look like dog tags had been torn off. Currently suffering from lack of food and eye infection.
PUBLIC SAFTEY:
We just had (Monday May 23rd) two late 20-something males (hispanic looking) stop by our house in their black and silver mid-size pick-up to ask if we had any scrap metal. We normally have our gate closed, but had it open for a UPS pick up. I did not open the door but spoke to them through the window. Just seemed a little odd and wanted to give fellow neighbors a heads up.

FREE Pollinator Guided Tour
WHO: West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District
WHAT: Guided tour of pollinator plantings
WHERE: Begin at Montgomery Park, 2701 NW Vaughn Street, Portland
WHEN: Friday, June 24, 2011, from 2:00-5:00 pm
Pollinators are essential to our environment. Pollinating bees, butterflies and birds are critical for the reproduction of nearly 70% of the nation’s flowering plants, including over two-thirds of the world’s crops. The economic value of pollinators to our agricultural production is about $3 billion a year in the U.S. Loss of habitat and the misuse of pesticides has severely harmed the number of pollinators today.
Join local plant and insect experts to learn about the concepts of pollinator plantings, what to plant for specific species and how to group them together in hedgerows for greater impact. A guided tour will cover urban (Montgomery Park) and rural plantings (Sauvie Island) and information from:
● Mary Logalbo, Urban Conservationist, West Multnomah SWCD
● Kathy Pendergrass, Plant Materials Specialist, NRCS
Transportation will be provided but seats are limited so those interested are urged to register by checking “Events” at www.wmswcd.org and filling out the online form. For more information about the tour, call Mary Logalbo at WMSWCD; 503/238-4775, ext. 103 or mary [at] wmswcd [dot] org.
