GOVERNMENT:

West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District Holds Open House

The West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District invites the public to its Annual Meeting, Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the REI Community Room in the Pearl (1406 NW Johnson). Light refreshments will be served.

District Manager, Dick Springer, says “This is an excellent opportunity for residents in West Multnomah County to find out what we’ve accomplished over the past year. We’ve been very busy with activities and workshops to assist landowners and managers and we’d like to let folks know what we can do for them in the coming year. Most of our programs are free of charge to District landowners and we want to make sure people are aware of our services and take advantage of them.”  

Following the Annual Meeting, the WMSWCD Board of Directors will hold its Board Meeting, which is also open to the public. The District will announce the winners of a group of annual awards including those for Urban and Rural Cooperators of the Year, Outstanding Government and Non-Profit Partners of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Green Award winner.

Metal Cutlery Needed:
Skyline School aims to be a "no waste" cafeteria. To that end, we have switched to metal cutlery which is washed daily. Just like at home, spoons and forks have wandered off. If you have extra metal spoons and forks please donate to the school!

How to Home Brew.  Friday, October 22, 7-9 PM, at Brooks Hill Church
Long time home brewer and vintner, Rick Wilding, will share his knowledge and experiences about how to brew your own beer.  He will discuss types of beer including root beer and ginger ale, ingredients, equipment, recipes and references.

Did you know – SRN publishes an on line Resource Directory as a service for Skyline area residents? It lists a wide variety of businesses that are either located in our area, or whose owners live here. It also lists many governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations that provide services to the Skyline neighborhood.
If your home-based or commercial business is located within the SRN boundaries, if the business owner lives therein, or if your agency or nonprofit organization provides services directly to SRN area residents, you are eligible to have a free listing in the Resource Directory. To add a new or edit an existing listing, please send a short description and full contact details to Directory or call 503-621-9867.

Skyline Rural Watch Newsline is a part of Skyline Ridge Neighbors (SRN) and has been produced since June 1994 as a means to communicate neighborhood information. The Newsline is produced by Laurel Erhardt (editor) with help from Miles Merwin, Rich Edwards, Libby Merwin, Sharon Barthmaier, Jennifer Jenkins, Sara Bowersox and Sen Speroff.
