GATHERING LOST AND FOUND

Does anyone know the owner of a green backpack that was delivered to the Speroff porch when the empty cheesecake pan was delivered by an unknown person?  The brand is Embark and it contains a pair of swimming goggles and sunglasses and a note re: Dylan Umpad and a prescription inhaler for him.  The backpack is on the Speroff's screened in porch in case someone wants to pick it up.

KYRON'S WALL

News Release from: Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue
KYRON HORMAN WALL OF HOPE FENCE POSTS INSTALLED TODAY, FENCE WILL BE INSTALLED TUESDAY
Posted: September 3rd, 2010 10:09 AM

Workers are installing fence-posts for the Kyron Horman Wall of Hope today at Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue's Skyline Station 368. Volunteers will not be installing the actual Wall of Hope fence until next Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.

TVF&R's Skyline Station is located a short distance north of Skyline Elementary School. After careful consideration, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue concluded the District could host the wall on its property without impacting operations. The District and Kyron Horman's family have agreed that the fence will be installed at the station for the foreseeable future.

"We know the public will want to park on District property to view the Wall of Hope," says TVF&R Communications Officer Brian Barker, "and they're welcome to visit, but please remember that the Skyline Fire Station is a working fire station and fire apparatus do depart and return frequently. Because of this we cannot allow the public to park, turn around or stage on the driveway in front of the station."

The District does own a house and a parking lot adjacent to the station located to the right of the station as you look at it from Skyline. This area has been designated as a public parking area.

"We're happy that The Fire District can provide this service to the community," Barker says, "our hearts go out to Kyron's family and we all hope for a positive resolution to this case."

Fence Installation Schedule
Tuesday, September 7th 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Volunteers install Kyron Horman Wall of Hope

Multnomah County Land Use News
This is not in SRN boundaries. However, I dont think we have ever had a Home Occupation case on the Newsline and we thought it might be good "education" for people to know that there is such a process.

Land Use approved the applicant's request for a Type B Home Occupation Conditional Use Permit for a Real Estate Office in the existing dwelling on property in the Multiple Use Agriculture-20 Zone.  Also approved was the request for a Variance to the County Road Rules to allow an approval of three of the exiting driveways that assess County Right-of-Ways.  Case Case T3-10-002.  For more information, visit: http://www2.co.multnomah.or.us/Community_Services/LUT-Planning/Notices/T3-10-002_real_estate_office_at_13560_NW_Springville_Rd_(due_9-7-10).pdf

ENVIRONMENT:

Looking for Slug Experts

I was hiking on the Wild Wood trail and came upon about 40 slugs gathered in about 6 foot stretch of the trail.  I am very curious as to why they were having this slug fest!!  I was very careful to not disturb them.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,

SCHOOLS

Thankyou!

Dear Skyline Parents, Students, Staff and Community:

Thank you so much to those of you who helped out at yesterday’s Skyline School Community Care day.  We had over 140 volunteers there painting classrooms, cleaning out and organizing storage rooms, painting outside metal railings, working on the track and soccer field, weeding, laying bark dust and completing other landscape projects.  We appreciate so much the time and effort that everyone devoted to the day.
In particular, we want to thank Ben Keefer for his help and leadership and Jinnet Powell for leading the charge on the landscape projects.  In addition, we would like to give our thanks and appreciation to the more than 65 volunteers from Sunset Presbyterian Church who helped out throughout the day.
At the end of the day we surveyed the entire school campus…inside and outside.  It looks fantastic!!!

THANK YOU….THANK YOU….THANK YOU!!!

Bill and Maggie Schweinfurth
Project Leaders

... And I want to thank Maggie and Bill Schweinfurth for taking on yet another care day event. It is amazing how much gets accomplished on these days! We couldn't do it without all of the wonderful parent and community volunteers, and they couldn't do it without wonderful folks like Maggie and Bill organizing things!

This is an amazing place to be a part of.  Thank you all for your efforts to keep it beautiful!
